I was cruising in Turkey part of July and whole of August, pretty good sceneries and some interesting tonnage there too.
I started in Istanbul, went through Canakkale Strait to Bodrum and then bounced around from there to Göcek/ Fethiye and all the way back to Didim at most seeworthy spots. Yalikavak marina that I had been at proudly had lost is license for berthing larger yachts it seemed.
Got also quite proficient in doing the "Turkish mooring" which means to tie your stern to the rocks. Pretty tricky with the deep waters all the way to the shore. One had to gauge distances accurately and have the ropes and belts for the stern setup in order to be successful.
Finished a heavy guest trip for almost 3 weeks and nobody had hardly any sleep. Not to mention the hardship of trying to provision to a, very demanding crowd. I think we managed in the end as we all got thanked after we dropped them off at the marina next to Bodrum a/p. We then motored back to Aganlar yard in Bodrum where a handful of crew left us. We that remained continued with bunkers and awaited new crew to sign on and so I cleared out of Turkey 1st September for Greece....
